Banjo lessons are always custom tailored to the individual needs of the student. Typical topics with beginners are technique, chords and simple banjo tunes in the style of Earl Scruggs. With advanced students more demanding techniques like melodic style may also be covered and arranging one’s favourite music to banjo is always fun and rewarding to name but a few possibilities. I’m open to all the genres from jazz to thrash, but bluegrass is obviously where the banjo traditionally happens.
I’ve been playing professionally since 1999 and teaching since 2004. I’ve been working as a professional banjo player since 2008. I graduated from Joensuu Conservatory in 2005 and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in 2012. For year and half I attended the world famous Berklee College of Music where I got to learn from masters such as Bela Fleck, Noam Pickelny, Tony Trischka and Pete Wernick.
Lessons are available at Kaapelitehdas (Ruoholahti, Helsinki) and Ikkala (near Karkkila). I also have excellent facilities for remote lessons at my studio.
